Meet The World’s Most Helpful Salesman
Dan Hollis is on a mission to help make your sales team improve their confidence, sell like champions, and create raving fan relationships.
Dan was born to be an entrepreneur, but his real superpower is building sales relationships, winning over prospect’s hearts so that their minds could follow. It’s a skill he’s used to help businesses large and small build consistent revenue engines that have endured throughout the decades.
Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained (NVNG)
Dan loved the independence that sales provided and the unique opportunities that would show up as if kismet. In 1994 Dan teamed up with Leslie Lapadakis from Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained Publishing to launch a quarterly periodical for the building and remolding industry aptly named “The Home Building and Remolding Almanac”. The magazine was a monster success competing with industry legend “This Old House” magazine. This became Dan’s first adventure in building a business from scratch, and the experience provided the foundation he would need to become a successful entrepreneur later in his career.
Radio/TV & Film
After a five-year run, NVNG was to be sold, and it was time for Dan to move on. He stopped by WRNJ radio (a station he often drove by in his travels) on a whim to introduce himself and see if the station could use his help. A lifelong radio fan, Dan saw potential in joining this local station at a moment when they needed the help the most. By the Friday of his first week, Dan had already sold his first radio campaign to the most unlikely customer, a retail business on the brink of closing. Dan’s early success at the station would continue landing him a perfect record as a top salesman for every quarter of this incredible 11-year journey.
The Magic of Selling
A chance encounter with the legendary Roy Williams of the Wizard of Ads universe led to an ongoing mentorship and eventually a book deal. Roy, a Texas native, took a shine to Dan after being interviewed by him on the air.
Over the years, Dan had been regularly asked by his clients to help train their own sales teams to be more like him. Relationship-focused, concerned about what was right for the customer not just what was expedient, and always willing to go the extra mile.
Dan formalized his methods in his book “The Magic of Selling”. This legendary sales playbook provides a roadmap that is simple enough for a novice salesperson to learn while still being nuanced enough to provide senior salespeople with a unique skill set they can master.
Dan’s authority in the sales arena would be called on countless times by his clients who viewed Dan as the one source of sales truth in a chaotic and often contradictory sales world. Dan had become a real resource to his clients, and The Magic of Selling Training program became an organic outcropping of the years of helping his clients’ salespeople while with WRNJ and thereafter with his years as sales director at Grey Sky Films.
Dan at Home
Today Dan lives in NJ, with his loving wife and an ever-expanding flock of animals – dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits. He enjoys quiet nights together, cooking dinner at home, an occasional night of live music, visiting with family and friends, riding his Harley, and sharing his faith in the Lord. Two of Dan’s favorite words are “making connections” which perfectly describes his lifelong thirst for wisdom and knowledge.
